C. Reid Nichols, an applied oceanographer with extensive military, government, and commercial experience, founded MIRC in December 1998 with a threefold vision: assemble a multidisciplinary team, address problems in the complex coastal zone, and provide quality work, expanding one job at a time based on performance and reputation.
Operating as a Maryland small business based in Ellicott City near Baltimore, MIRC has been serving customers this way since 1998.
MIRC has assembled an exceptional team of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals. Expertise in a broad range of marine, earth, atmospheric, GIS, and computer science fields enables MIRC to fulfill complex and challenging customer needs. Additionally, MIRC employees possess extensive military and government experience to bring to bear on problems of interest to customers in or involved with the federal government.
In 2003, MIRC has expanded its capabilities for providing oceanographic field work with the acquisition of Mariner I, a work boat capable of offshore day operations up to 40 or more miles from the coast.
